TRANSITION TO WORK AND RE-EMPLOYMENT
SERVICES
Transition To Work Services
Speedy Transition To Work program has been
established to assist a Carrier and/or TPA with finding light
duty transitional work for a claimant when the Company cannot
accommodate the injured worker. The Transition to Work will
provide interim employment between employee’s injury
recovery and return to work. Speedy matches injured worker’s
abilities to the best job opportunities available through
partnerships with non-profit organizations. Once placed, Speedy
will provide on-going documentation of employee’s compliance
with RTW program. The Return To Work program is time-limited
to 90 days or when employee is released to return to previous
position. The network consists of job opportunities in over
30 states and adheres to State statues and guidelines. Speedy
Transition To Work and Re-employment Services will establish
and manage a network of Not For Profit Agencies (NFPs) in
an effort to identify transitional duty positions for injured
workers of Client, based on Client’s identification/referral.
Once a referral of such injured worker
is received, Speedy will provide administrative services consisting
of documentation of that worker’s progress through the
RTW program. Speedy will provide to the injured worker (in
coordination with the adjuster) the locations of its existing
NFP networks that have transitional duty opportunities based
on the worker’s restrictions and state guidelines. A
certified job offer letter will be sent to the injured worker
(in coordination with the adjuster) identifying the approved
transitional duty position. (In most states, if claimant refuses
job offer the adjuster can terminate benefits for refusal
to work.) Following an injured worker’s acceptance of
the transitional duty position offer, Speedy will verify that
the injured worker reported to work on his/her first day of
assignment at the NFP. Thereafter, Speedy will follow up with
the NFP every two (2) weeks to obtain a status and performance
report on the injured worker. Speedy will provide the status
and performance reports to the Client. Injured workers placed
and/or considered for placement into a transitional duty position
remain employees of the current Client. At 60 days, a status
report is reviewed with the adjuster to determine if the injured
worker is able to return to their previous position. If so,
the worker will continue in the transitional program until
the completion of 90 days, or upon release to his/her position.
If the injured worker cannot return to his/her previous position,
a referral for a re-employment assessment is completed to
determine what employment options are available base on the
current restrictions.
Re-Employment
Services
Speedy Re-employment services provides
an in-depth assessment of the claimant’s ability to
return to work (whether the work is regular, modified or alternative),
labor market analysis of jobs available matching employee’s
abilities/restrictions and expert documentation and testimony
as required for litigation of file and reduction of exposure.
A Re-employment Assessment is completed
for the injured worker when: the nature of the claimant’s
injuries does not allow them to return to perform their previous
duties; when job leads are needed to help the claimant obtain
gainful employment; when claimant’s physician authorizes
a return to duties that require retraining; when work search
efforts by claimant have to be verified; when labor market
surveys are required; and when professional testimony is required
in court appearances for mediation and/or settlement.
Speedy will complete a re-employment assessment
upon referral from the adjuster. The Qualified Rehab Professional
(QRP) will contact the claimant, receive consent from the
claimant (and attorney as needed) and arrange for the completion
of the re-employment assessment per state guidelines. If
the claimant does not consent to the assessment, additional
measures per state guidelines and in coordination with the
Adjuster will be taken. For example, a labor market survey
can be completed in lieu of the assessment in most states.
The Qualified Rehab Professional will provide extensive
documentation of the employment opportunities available
to claimant based on limitations and Physician’s approval
of those jobs per restrictions. If available, the QRP will
make appointments for job interviews and provide directions
and job coaching to the claimant. If the claimant participates
in a job interview, documentation will be provided to the
adjuster on the interview process and the outcomes which
occur post interview. This documentation can be used to
move the file along for mediation or settlement. Additional
Re-employment Services include: Labor Market Surveys, Transferable
Skills Profile, Vocational Evaluation, Employment Placement
Coordination and Employer Education and Support.
